Planning Your Visit
So who is this package for?
1
If you made it this far it’s probably for you!
No, seriously - this can be for anyone who just loves a different kind of adventure but appreciate coziness and wellness at the same time. No matter if you are a family with small kids or a group of friends you are in the right place. We are very flexible with our program and activities and Hotel Aldan offers all kind of rooms from doubles and family rooms all the way to private suites.
And when can you come?
2
Icelandic winter is long. We mean it - it is very very long. It starts end of October and ends in April. It will not always be snowy down in the fjord, but that’s what we have the mountains for.
Our favourites months are November, January and March and April. They are all different. November is usually snowy up in the mountains while still suitable for autumn hikes down in the fjord. January is the real frozen winter with plenty of snow and Northern lights. March and April are best for winter mountain adventures as the snow cover reached its peak. But we have a plan for any month and are very flexible.
How is the accommodation?
3
Aldan Hotel & Restaurant of Seyðisfjörður consists of three old but extensively renovated houses two of which are located by the little pond in the heart of this quaint old town in the Norwegian Schweitzer-style. Each house encompasses 9 rooms and a dining room as well. The restaurant has also been renovated and is now focusing even more on local Icelandic ingredients, mostly from the Eastern fjords.
The third one, dating from the late 19th. century was used as banking premises for decades but has been renovated all while respecting traditional values. The house has 7 double rooms and 2 triple rooms. Most rooms have space for an additional bed and one room can accommodate a group of six. Flexible design makes it possible to combine some of the rooms to form a "suite" or family rooms for 4 to 6 persons.
And what about food?
4
At Aldan Restaurant, Icelandic ingredients are held in high esteem. The cuisine is under European and Nordic influences and the selection of drinks is specially selected. They serve the freshest fish sourced from the nearby waters. Most days we will be here for breakfast and dinner (with possible dinks) and every day a generous lunch package will be prepared by one of their experienced chefs.
Newly the Aldan Restaurant, Skaftfell Bistro and Fjallagrös Bakery are joining forces in a collaborative effort to ensure consistent winter opening hours for everyone to enjoy in Seyðisfjörður. That makes more variety for you.
What if the weather turns bad?
5
Yes, that can very well happen. After all we are in Iceland and as the saying goes:"If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes, it'll change".
But we always have a plan B, plan C and plan D and our very flexible with the itinerary. If the weather forecast isn’t in our favour, we will spend the day in a local spa, visiting one of the locals to hear the story of their life and share coffee and cakes with them or having a cultural experiences in one of our local art galleries. And the adventures come the next day…
What activities will we do?
6
We offer a wide range of outdoor ventures as well as leisure time wellness activities.
Every days there will be a new adventure waiting for you - winter super jeep tours, snowshoeing, skiing, winter hiking and boat trips to the neighbour fjords.
Other days we will just take it more easy and enjoy a relaxing day at Vök baths, stunning geothermal pool situated on a lake surface.
